Mac's Tournament Update: Bronze Medal Special Edition
1/1/2006
Bronze Medal Game – Pengrowth Saddledome
Prince Albert Mintos 4 Calgary Buffaloes 2
Calgary’s only remaining team in the tournament faced a tough Prince Albert crew in the bronze medal game. With both teams losing heartbreakers in the semi-finals, Prince Albert’s Karsten Felke, their backup goaltender gave up 3 goals on 14 shots before being replaced by star keeper Dustin Tokarski halfway through the second. Tokarski would not be beaten for the remainder of the game. Buffaloes’ Jordan Eberle broke the ice early in the first, before Steven Robinson replied quickly for the Mintos. Jamie Paulsen, the game star for the Buffaloes, provided the eventual game winner in the second. At 12:48 of the third, Ron Meyers pulled the Mintos back within one. With the Mintos pressing in the offensive zone, Tokarski stoned a Buffaloes breakaway with two minutes remaining. But that was not enough as Eberle then added his second of the game into the empty net to give the Buffaloes the bronze medal.
